Diya's Foundation at a Glance
A Bit of Background
As the child of a first-generation immigrant parents, I had the opportunity to witness the plight of less fortunate children both here and in some developing countries. I started volunteering at local food banks and assisted-living homes since my middle school days as I always felt to give back to those in need.
During my trip to Jordan in Fall of 2016, I came across a local girl of my age selling handmade bracelets to support her family and her education. Her struggle made me realize education is a privilege and not a right in most parts of the world, unlike the country I live in.
In Summer 2018, I volunteered at a home for underprivileged girls in West Bengal, India. During my stay, I realized how lack of basic health, hygiene, and personal care products disrupts their day-to-day activities.

Hope and Help
My hope is to provide books, stationery, and sanitary products to underprivileged girls.
I have been partnering with Prabartak Seva Niketan in Chandannagore, West Bengal, India. Prabartak is a home providing food, shelter, and education to underprivileged girls.

Reinforcing my Commitment
I believe every girl has the potential to rise through education regardless of their circumstances. From my volunteering experience in India, I realized that the lack of basic health and hygiene products hinders the ability of these underprivileged girls to focus on their studies and realize their inner strengths. While mentoring those girls to improve their conversational English skills, I felt that being able to communicate effectively builds self-esteem and dignity.
With this hope of mine, my goal is to raise funds for the children and provide them the resources to fulfill their dreams.
This is my first step and I seek your support, cooperation, advice, and outreach.
